Which printers need ink?Updated 2 months ago

At PoooliPrint, we are proud to offer a wide selection of printers. With so many options, we have three classifications of printers based on their printing methods.

ZINK (Zero Ink) - these printers do not need ink and product full-color images

Examples: PoooliPrint Color Photo Printer or PoooliPrint Z1 Camera

Thermal Printers - there are two types of thermal printers:

• Direct Thermal Printing - these printers do not need ink, rather they use a special heat-sensitive paper to create images
  • Examples: PoooliPrinter L1/L2, PoooliPrint XL, PoooliPrint A4P2
• Thermal Transfer Printing - this printer does need ink as it uses a ribbon with ink that melts onto the paper when heated
  • Examples: PoooliPrint A4P1

Thermal Dye Sublimation Printers - these printers do need ink, as they transfer dye onto paper by heating solid ink into a gas, creating rich, high-resolution, smudge-proof images

Examples: PoooliPrint CP4000L and PoooliPrint CP2100
